I’m Merani Cosme, an Experience Designer specializing in UI/UX and design systems. Over the years I’ve worked across a wide range of projects, from building design systems and leading research to refining UI details that elevate a brand. I consider myself a design generalist with the added perspective of a former front-end developer. That background helps me design with implementation in mind and makes me a strong collaborator with engineering teams.
Lately, my focus has been on design systems, building scalable frameworks that solve complex problems. One of my proudest moments was collaborating with and leading a team of six designers to create a system from scratch, accounting for multiple themes within a parent brand and ensuring adoption across the organization. As a design lead, I love to challenge teammates by asking the right questions and giving thoughtful feedback, fostering collaboration that helps push ideas further and create stronger solutions.
At the core of my design philosophy is intention. Good design isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about crafting experiences with meaning and purpose. Often the best design is invisible: so intuitive it quietly supports the experience without drawing attention to itself.
I grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and now live in Philadelphia. Outside of design, I split my time between the gym (lifting heavy circles), creative outlets like painting and film photography, and exploring the city’s food and coffee scene. Whether it’s fitness or fine arts, I’m always looking for ways to experiment, explore, and push myself, just like in my design work.
